The testimonial subpoena authority is not new, because the Department of Defense Office of Inspector General has had the testimonial subpoena authority for more than a decade.

You have a system in place, and you can use the same kind of parameters and structures and reviews to oversee the documentary subpoena process, so it would not be abused.

Earlier this year, I introduced the Inspector General Testimonial Subpoena Authority Act with Senator Grassley.

I mean, what I am concerned about is the bill also says that you all, the vet center, will reach out to the veteran within 14 days.

I have a bipartisan bill with Senator Cramer that would require VA vet centers to contact recently separated veterans.

With those guidelines in place right now from the DOD and VA, you all can do it. But those could change; right?

The bill that Senator Cramer and I have requires the VA to electronically alert the vet center nearest to where a veteran resides.

One of the things I am concerned about is different administrations, different leadership, different policymakers in executive agencies can change the way things work.

If not addressed, these gaps in learning will have a long lasting negative effect on the lifelong success of students.

I think we have the right policy, and we need to make sure we are making bold decisions to let that happen.

How important is it for State and local governments, as well as the Federal Government, to consider future flood risk in their infrastructure plans?
