I thank the managers who have worked so hard to resolve the amendment that I had on fetal tissue research. This amendment will set up a GAO study of the practice of fetal tissue transfer to determine whether or not any fetal tissue is transferred illegally for research purposes. The GAO will conduct a comprehensive study of Federal involvement in the use of fetal tissue for research purposes. I look forward to receiving a report from the General Accounting Office in the very near future as to how much, if any, illegal trafficking is occurring in the area of fetal tissue.
