Isn't it true that Moscow deploys a highly capable ballistic missile defense system?

DOD requested the reprogramming of 2017 funding of more than $400 million to counter the North Korean missile threat.

This is an incredibly important and timely discussion given the increasing missile threats facing our Nation.

Last year, the Congress directed NNSA to establish the infrastructure modernization initiative in order to reduce the backlog of deferred maintenance at least by 30 percent by 2025.

I hope you will continue to keep Congress informed on that to make sure we are meeting the objectives that were laid out by Congress.

The administration's intent to rapidly pursue Stockpile Responsiveness Program established by Congress, and this is something that I am very supportive of.

In terms of the out-years, can you give us some idea of the scale of investment that we are looking at here?

I am especially pleased to see included in this legislation policies that I have championed in this Committee for many years.

This bill encompasses a variety of priorities that I and many members of this Committee have labored over for, in some cases, many years.

We have not made sufficient progress towards a responsive nuclear infrastructure.

I was very, very happy to see that Nebraska received a $25 million TIGER Grant for the Lincoln South Beltway Project.

Knowing that those resources are going to be there, that we don't have to depend on a grant to be able to take care of those roads and bridges, is a key component for us.

The bill before us today, the Fair Agricultural Reporting Method, or the FARM Act, would provide greater certainty for ag producers.

Since my first day in Congress I have worked with my Senate colleagues to promote policies that enable our ag producers to prosper, while also safeguarding our environment.

Thank you, Chairman Rounds and Ranking Member Booker, for convening today's legislative hearing on important bipartisan legislation that would ensure common sense policies prevail for our farmers, our ranchers, and our livestock markets.

Do you agree with the NPR's assessment that the 'escalate to de-escalate' strategy reflects Russian doctrine?

If we could gear this back to some worldwide threats that we're facing as a country.

I see them as being able to stretch current tax dollars so we can move forward with infrastructure projects.

Are you committed to making the necessary investments to ensure that we meet the Department of Defense's requirements and the objectives described in the Nuclear Posture Review?

I happen to believe that our missile defense system provides really an immense capability, and the expansion of that system is going to help us to continue to defend the Homeland as this threat increases.

I would really appreciate your sense of urgency because, as we all know, the Russians were in violation 4 years ago on that treaty.

EPA's back to basics agenda has resulted in economic viability across the Nation, while still ensuring the EPA's primary mission of protecting our environment is upheld.

And I would appreciate that, because it affects the base, it affects national security, it affects our local communities.

But, sir, my issue here is with the district office, it is with the district office that has had six different permit review teams, that has spent 8 years in reviewing this project that has cost local taxpayers $5 million.
