Continued oversight of agencies within our jurisdiction is one of our most important duties, and I am glad to have the chance to learn more about where GPO stands four years into Director Halpern's leadership.

Not just building to building, to be able to connect there. We have got to be able to look again at that last acre if we are truly going to make a difference.

That is not a record to be proud of.

Money alone is not going to solve this crisis.

As I said last week, there is a national security crisis at our southern border.

We have to differentiate between emergency spending and long-term investment in our national priorities.

The Federal Government does provide some assistance in identifying and mitigating the cybersecurity threats to election officials, primarily in the form of information sharing.

You also advocated an approach to preventing potential election interference that judges outcomes instead of regulating tools.

Can you please talk about the practical implications of a law that would ban or severely restrict the use of AI?

Artificial intelligence has become one of those issues.

I just do not think the government needs to interfere in people's private businesses by requiring more reporting.

I think that needs to be made clear because there is deep concern about anything that is connected to the internet.

I view broadband as essential infrastructure. It is an investment in our country. It is an investment in the future.

We are talking about rural development and being able--I view that as strengthening rural America, to be able to have that development.

The Library is such a treasure for us all.

Thank you, Madam Chair, for calling this oversight hearing regarding the Library of Congress.

This is such an important project. It would be great to get it done on time to be able to celebrate our 250th anniversary with it.

In my view, that is a clear testament to the importance of these efforts.

The Library of Congress should strive to be a global leader in the management and preservation of information.

I certainly want to see this project completed and done in a responsible way, because I believe your past leadership has shown you capable of doing that, and we want to be helpful.

I love visiting the Library, and I want to tell you that my staff recently was able to take a field trip and visit the Library.

I appreciate the Air Force's commitment to rebuilding Offutt, after the devastation caused by the floods in 2019.

Ultimately, we traded away the flexibility of having larger network of bases, and facilities, ports, and dry docks, and runways for cost savings and efficiencies.
