I rise with great pleasure in support of H.R. 782, the Older Americans Act Amendments of 2000. Today's consideration of H.R. 782 does bring to the floor a very solid, very significant bipartisan legislative accomplishment that is 5 long years overdue. The Older Americans Act, or OAA, provides a framework for a variety of services that supports seniors by helping them stay safe and healthy and active members of their communities. Our seniors today are the real winners. Getting to this point has taken nearly 2 years of bipartisan and, yes, I say to the gentleman from Pennsylvania (Mr. Goodling), bicameral effort.
