“This is what I said 26 years ago in my candidacy for the Senate: I have concluded that the serious economic problems facing our state can in large measure only be addressed in Washington. It is economic policies decided in our nation's capital that are pushing our state into a difficult financial position. Since 1980, our national debt has doubled. These economic policies are not only devastating to the economy of the State of North Dakota but are rapidly exporting the economic strength of this country. This process must be stopped.
