When you step back and you look at what children need, this is obviously a huge component of community.
Our most acute and most desperate need for housing is in Indian Country.
What do we do, working within existing programs, and what do we do looking at financing?
I would love to tell you that I was enormously successful, but I failed. I failed to make those programs accessible.
We failed. You cannot look at the statistics of housing in Indian Country... and not get an acute sense of failure.
If we keep doing what we have always done... we will get the same result.
We must address the unique challenges faced by Native American housing.
