I recognize now that my understanding of those relationships may not have always matched yours.

This decision has not come easily. Public service always requires sacrifice—not only from those who serve, but from their spouses, families, volunteers, and supporters.

Serving Western North Carolina has been the honor of my life.

I respect the House vote. I do not accept the conclusion that it produced.
