Our farmers in eastern North Carolina are like farmers across this Nation. Many of them have been in trouble. The foreign markets have not been what they had hoped they would be, and for a number of reasons the farmers really need this help. And I want to give the gentleman from Texas (Mr. Combest), chairman of the Committee on Agriculture, and all of the Republican and Democrat Members, a lot of credit for the bill they brought to the floor. It was what I thought a very strong, very helpful agricultural farm bill that would help our farmers. And as the gentleman said very well, it has been on the Senate side for quite a few weeks, and now months, and they need to remember that our farmers are waiting for their action.
