I would urge all of our Members who are from Texas, Washington, Florida, South Dakota, Tennessee, Nevada, or Wyoming to pay close attention. This may be your best time, it may be your only time in your congressional career to get basic Federal income tax fairness for your State. Let me repeat. If you are from Texas or Florida or Wyoming or South Dakota or Tennessee or Washington, this may be your only chance to get basic tax fairness for the citizens of your State. This is not a partisan issue. This is an issue of basic unfairness that has existed in this country since 1986 when the tax laws changed to deprive the citizens of our States basic tax fairness. The citizens of those States I just named, Texas, Florida, Tennessee, Washington, South Dakota, Nevada, Wyoming, pay more Federal income tax per capita than citizens equally positioned in other States. Why? Because our basic tax mechanisms are the sales tax, not the State income tax, and we cannot deduct the State sales tax from our Federal income. So this is your best chance, this is your only chance, and you must vote against the previous question.
