On the recordSeptember 14, 2000
I am reading a report from the Center for the Study of Intelligence, and I am reading verbatim from that report. It says, and I quote: ``An estimated 45,000 to 50,000 women and children are trafficked annually to the United States.'' Now, that might be worldwide being trafficked into the United States, but that is what this bill is about. How many of them are we going to allow? How many are going to come forward and seek to stay here once they have been trafficked in? If the figure is wrong, it is because the report is wrong; it is not because I have misstated the record. I am stating it in good conscience. I cannot verify it. I was reading from a report.
