Then they will come back and cite the local housing authorities for not complying with the law, because they will say, oh no, we wrote a perfect bill, and how dare they tell the Federal Government that they will not comply with the spirit and the letter of the law. My colleagues, we have reached a point of ridiculousness here. It is ridiculous partisanship. If this amendment were offered by a Republican on the floor of this House, it would have passed just like that. And the only thing we are defending against is pride here. Partisan pride. That is all we are defending against and we ought to be ashamed of ourselves.
