Dear Speaker Pelosi, Majority Leader Hoyer, Chairman Scott, and Republican Leader McCarthy: Jewish Women International JWI) writes to urge the House to vote yes on the final passage of the Family Violence Prevention and Services Improvements Act (FVPSA), H.R. 2119 which provides essential support for domestic violence shelters and programs. The core funding provided by FVPSA supports more than 1,500 local public, private, nonprofit, and faithbased organizations and programs and over 240 Tribes and Tribal organizations in their response to the urgent needs of over 1.3 million domestic violence victims and their children. This act also creates a new underserved populations grant program which will enable these groups to receive services from culturally specific programs that they are more likely to seek assistance from and that can better meet their needs.
