Many in eastern North Carolina and throughout the Nation who purchased healthcare through the ACA marketplace are deeply worried about rising premiums. As open enrollment is underway, constituents remain uncertain and are in a holding pattern, waiting to see if Congress will fix it. Many are experiencing emotional distress, including a mother who even broke down in tears. Some are considering changing their coverage or foregoing it altogether. Some are considering taking on multiple jobs or even tapping into lines of home equity to fill the gap if Congress fails to act. I have signed on to a discharge petition, calling to extend ACA premium tax credits. I have also signed on to a bipartisan letter to Senators in support of a real solution. Mr. Speaker, we owe it to the people of eastern North Carolina and our Nation. Members of Congress who have health insurance should not deny coverage to hardworking families.
