In 2008, the Congressional Budget Office and the Joint Committee on Taxation concluded that mandatory E-Verify in Rep. Heath Shuler's SAVE Act would decrease federal revenues by $17.3 billion over a 10-year period.

In recent weeks our economy has shown promising signs of recovery, but we are not out of the woods yet.

We need every job we can get, particularly in core industries.

Unfortunately, and I will say this on both sides, the maturity level is not there from the United States Congress yet.
