Mr. Speaker, I want to thank Ms. Kelly for her leadership and for yielding me this time as a representative of the 46 men and women comprising the Congressional Black Caucus. Mr. Payne, I want to thank you for all you do for our caucus and what you mean to not only the State of New Jersey, but also what you mean to all of us. Mr. Speaker, I am pleased that we have set aside this hour to remark about the confirmation process for Loretta Lynch. President Obama should be commended for choosing an Attorney General nominee who is well qualified in every respect. Though she lives in New York City, she is a native of Greensboro and Durham, North Carolina. She is a North Carolinian for sure. Her father, the Reverend Leonzo Lynch, whom I have known for most of my life, is a native of Martin County, North Carolina, from the town of Oak City, which is right in the heart of my congressional district. The Lynch family has deep roots in eastern North Carolina. Ms. Lynch has a 30-year career, distinguished legal career. She is a well-respected lawyer and Federal prosecutor in the Eastern District of New York, which serves 8 million people throughout Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, and Long Island.
