I want to appeal to those of you who find more sense in being reasonable than to be idealogues. You know, there is a place for public television and a place for public radio, and it is indeed both in the urban and rural areas. I represent rural America, and it is refreshing to know there is a source of information that is not only qualitatively and quantitatively superior, but also is subjective and has an opportunity to advance learning. This is in the American interest that we support it. It is not to suggest that we are any less caring about free enterprise, but it is to suggest we see value in having the Americans support it because it enhances not only the education advancement, but it enhances the American way. It makes sense. Mr. Chairman, I appeal to the other side to not only defeat this amendment, but to know that you must defeat the whole bill itself.
