I am still a bit concerned, however, about how the bill's statutory reduction in the amount of reserves available to individual public housing authorities might in practice affect their ability to gain access to additional resources for legitimate needs. I still hope we can come up with another solution that would provide a firmer guarantee to public housing authorities before the conference bill is finalized. Whatever we do, we do not want to have our public housing authorities stopping short of providing as much housing as they possibly can to people in need.
