“I am pleased to rise in support of this amendment and commend my colleague and a number of colleagues, actually, for offering it. The recent news reports about the Secretary of Transportation are disturbing. It is critical that anyone who serves in public office follows the law, and if the law clearly states you can't use your public office for personal gain, that is what following the law requires. We expect all Federal employees to follow the law, and this amendment reminds them that it is their obligation to do so. So I thank the gentleman again for raising this issue. Mr. Chair, I would urge adoption of the amendment.”
