today, Lees-McRae College in Banner Elk, North Carolina, celebrates its centennial. It is altogether fitting that we pause to honor the vision and accomplishments of its founder, the Reverend Edgar Tufts, on this celebrated day. For 100 years, Lees-McRae College has provided a quality, student-centered, values-based education. From its humble beginning in Edgar Tuft's study, Lees-McRae has grown into a fully accredited baccalaureate institution. In addition, Lees-McRae is committed to being an integral part of the larger community, as witnessed by its outreach projects, cooperative programs with area schools, and humanitarian service activities. Lees-McRae College is an institution of which the entire Nation should be proud, and we wish it well as it enters its second century.
