That mission is to fulfill President Lincoln's promise 'to care for him who shall have borne the battle and for his widow, and his orphan.'

The VA is in crisis. The veterans are in need. There is much to do.

I am fully committed to fulfilling this charge to me, that is, to transform the Department of Veterans Affairs into an organization that delivers on its mission.

The President, our Commander in Chief, asked me to serve. I want to do well by my country and I accepted that challenge.
