Ray Nagin: “It's too doggone late. Now, get off your asses and let's do something!”

If we have 65,000 people looking for temporary housing and only 2,000 have those houses, then we need to double our efforts or triple our efforts to make sure the job gets done.

I want to thank all the wonderful people of the city of New Orleans for this encouragement, for this victory, for this time for us to set the stage for our recovery.

This is the perfect race for me as far as I'm concerned. You know, the first time I ran, I was able to coalesce with white voters much quicker. I still got a significant portion of the black vote. This time it's different.

This city will be chocolate at the end of the day. Icing on the cake. This city will be a majority African-American city.
