The text of the amendment is as follows: At the end of subtitle C of title XII, add the following: SEC. 1229. PROHIBITION ON USE OF FUNDS TO MAINTAIN A UNITED STATES MILITARY PRESENCE IN SYRIA. None of the funds authorized to be appropriated or otherwise made available to carry out this Act may be used to maintain a United States military presence in Syria beginning on the date that is 1 year after the date of the enactment of this Act, except pursuant to a specific statutory authorization enacted into law in accordance with the War Powers Resolution (50 U.S.C. 1541 et seq.). The SPEAKER pro tempore. Pursuant to House Resolution 667, the gentleman from New York (Mr. Bowman) and a Member opposed each will control 5 minutes. The Chair recognizes the gentleman from New York.
