“I rise to acknowledge and congratulate the phenomenal growth and success of charter schools in the United States and the remarkable success they have achieved. Colorado charter schools, I am particularly pleased to report, are among the nation's leaders when it comes to academic performance, parental satisfaction and accountability. According to a recent study by the Colorado Department of Education (CDE), charter school students significantly outperformed state and local district averages in reading and writing. Other indicators, including parent satisfaction and participation, were also very positive. As the proud parent of three children attending Liberty Common School, a charter school in Fort Collins, Colorado in the Poudre School District, and one of the 51 Colorado charter schools participating in the CDE study, I can attest to the fact that charter schools work, are a catalyst for improvement in our nation's schools, and are in great demand across the country.”
