Ryan Keith Zinke is an American politician and businessman who served as the U.S. Representative for Montana's at-large congressional district from 2015 to 2017. A member of the Republican Party, Zinke was appointed as the Secretary of the Interior under President Donald Trump, serving from March 2017 until January 2019. During his tenure, he focused on issues such as energy development, public land management, and conservation efforts. Zinke has also been involved in various initiatives related to veterans and outdoor recreation.
This bill is a win/win for Montana, for the co-ops, for the collaborative effort, and it is bipartisan.
We should be doing whatever we can to empower our co-ops, not blame them for government negligence.
The system is broken, and H.R. 2358 as introduced by Congressman Zinke and Congressman Schrader is a meaningful step toward fixing the problem.
We should not hold our co-ops hostage over what has been a Washington problem in negligence and gridlock.
This is a tremendous first step. I hope that one day the same level of consistency, flexibility, and accountability can be incorporated into the process.

I commend Congressman Zinke and one of my state's Congressmen, Kurt Schrader, for their leadership with introducing this bill.
It is an issue of forest safety and national safety and security for our entire country.
The states are incredibly capable and committed to conserving the sage grouse, the habitat.
