today I am introducing a Senate joint resolution appointing a citizen regent to the Board of Regents of the Smithsonian Institution. I am pleased that my fellow Smithsonian Institution Regents, the Senator from Tennessee, Mr. Frist, and the Senator from Vermont, Mr. Leahy, are cosponsors. At its meeting on January 22, 2001, the Smithsonian Institution Board of Regents recommended Dr. Walter E. Massey for appointment to the Smithsonian Institution Board of Regents.
