I am pleased to join my State colleague and other Senators in cosponsoring this resolution condemning recent church burnings and urging that all appropriate Federal authority be used to investigate these incidents and bring to justice those who are responsible for them. I suggest, in addition to passing this bipartisan leadership resolution, that we hold at the desk the bill that will be passed by the House and call it up for passage as soon as possible, without amendment, and send it to the President for his signature. Taking this action should serve notice on all concerned that this kind of conduct will not be tolerated in our society, and those who engage in this terrorism will be caught and they will be punished.
