I, too, rise in support of this amendment. It is in response to a tragic automobile accident that affected a number of families. I want to thank Senator Schumer's staff for working with me, the ranking member, and the chair of the Commerce Committee to get this language correct. It is in good shape. I also oppose the U.S. lifting any sanctions on Iran, or unfreezing Iranian funds, in exchange for Iran’s mere agreement to negotiate for another 60 days.
The Iranian regime has not renounced its ultimate goal — ‘Death to America, Death to Israel.’ The regime will invest every penny it receives to further that aim.
We should enact this bipartisan measure to exert maximum economic pressure on Putin’s war machine and help bring this unjust war to an end.
