We encourage the subcommittee to do four things.

The bill has a retroactive effect, stating the effectiveness of the legislation will be as if it was in effect when the IRA was implemented on June 18, 1934.

Congress should act to pass H.R. 1208 to amend the Indian Reorganization Act to conform to this original intended purpose.

This Act is not just about legitimizing, it is about enabling the Tribe to provide essential government services effective to the citizens.
