Just the interest on the national debt eats up more of our taxes than Medicare, than Medicaid, twice as much as Medicaid, the national defense, 10 times more than food stamps, and 12 times more than welfare. In the 2 minutes that I have spoken to my colleagues, this Nation has spent $1 million on interest on the national debt, just in the past 2 minutes. So what is their solution? We will borrow more money. We will pay more interest. That is crazy. Mr. Speaker, what do they do? Do they come to the floor and be honest with the American people and say we want to borrow some more money? No, they hide it.”
