I respectfully request that you hold a hearing where the Committee can receive testimony from the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Justice on the subject of domestic terrorism.

Cyber threats are constantly evolving.

AFGE advocates an increase of 6,000 additional full-time TSOs to the workforce.

We urge Administrator Neffenger to apply title 5 rights and protections to the TSO workforce.

Congress should pass H.R. 4488, the Rights of Transportation Security Officers Act.

It is time for Congress to dedicate the proceeds of the security fee to TSA to be used for its intended purpose.

It is well within the authority of both the Congress and TSA to provide TSOs the same workplace rights and protections as other Federal workers.

Justice delayed has been justice denied to the TSO workforce.

Given these facts, I believe you should strongly consider the possibility of reallocating these individuals to perform other screening functions within the staffing allocation model.

I know you need additional resources and I am really interested in knowing, at some point, the answer to Mr. Thompson's question about how many do you think that you need.

I think we ought to look and see if they can make a contribution toward this effort to alleviate the wait times.

Increasing staffing resources is certainly a good thing--but only if the proper vetting and training occur before more TSOs are added.

Unfortunately, it is the men and women who are the 'face of TSA' who get blamed--the Transportation Security Officers.

To be clear, the flying public expects and deserves efficient, safe, secure, reliable air transit.

Asking passengers to arrive 3 hours before a domestic departure is unacceptable.

Border security technology must be procured, deployed, and utilized in an appropriate, cost-effective manner.

I continue to support using technology as a force-multiplier along our Nation's borders.

This committee has conducted vigorous oversight of DHS's attempts to deploy security technology along our Nation's borders over the years--and with good reason.

I fear a cyber Katrina if we do not establish a 'whole community approach' to prevent, respond to, and recover from cyber attacks soon.

We need to do better. The frequency of cyber attacks is increasing and the attacks are becoming more sophisticated.
