I support Congressional oversight of the evolving use of these resources by the Trump administration for what appears to be an immigration-based agenda.

I call metering a violation of the U.S. asylum law. Our laws do not place a limit on the number of people who can apply for asylum.

I am optimistic that placement in the Management Directorate will provide more visibility and opportunity for growth for FPS.

I am pleased that DHS finally made a decision regarding the new placement of FPS as I am sure that the angst regarding its landing wore on employee morale.

I hope we get it right this time around.

In light of this critical role, we must ensure that FPS's transition is successful.

History has a way of repeating itself, as nearly 10 years ago we were holding a similar hearing on FPS's transfer from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to the National Protection and Programs Directorate (NPPD).

I look forward to leading that effort.

This important step has helped alleviate passenger wait times while sending a strong message to TSA.

Unfortunately, allegations of unlawful profiling are nothing new for TSA.

TSA must provide effective security without disproportionately impacting certain groups of Americans.

TSA must improve its technology to address this issue while considering the diversity of the public.

In June 2019, Representative Thompson also introduced this legislation in the House.

The President's fiscal year 2020 budget request for the Department of Homeland Security is, in a word, indefensible.

To the extent this administration has a border policy, it has been an abject failure.

Good afternoon. I want to thank Chairman Richmond for holding today's hearing on an issue critical to both our National security and our economy: Addressing the cybersecurity workforce shortage.

For the life of me, I am having difficulty in continuing to listen to the justification of not putting them in the GSA system pay scale where all other Federal employees happen to be.

Many TSOs live paycheck to paycheck.

We appreciate the continued advocacy of Chairman Thompson and House Appropriations Committee Chairwoman Nita Lowey in support of title 5 rights for the TSO workforce.

The Trump administration's budget requests for the past 3 years have been woefully inadequate in supporting the TSA workforce.

I want to thank them very much for working under some of the trying conditions, like not getting paid.

I just still struggling with coming up with dual personnel systems for one agency.

As it is National Police Week, I would like to take a moment to thank those law enforcement officers who serve this country and State and local communities and also honor those in law enforcement who have made the ultimate sacrifice.

FEMA has yet to adequately implement all of the reforms, despite it being well over a decade since the law was passed.
