It's important to understand how the coronavirus pandemic has impacted frontline transportation workers so we can determine a path to a safe recovery.

Moving forward to recovery, we must make smart, safe, and calculated decisions to get our workforce going and businesses hiring again.

Congress must work to extend the prohibition on involuntary furloughs of aviation employees through the expiration of the CARES Act if federal relief was accepted.

The United States Coast Guard has unique authorities, international relationships, and Service culture that make it a crucial part of our national security system.

Today's hearing is a good opportunity to assess the future needs of freight and passenger rail services and to discuss opportunities for improving the infrastructure used by these industries.

The rail industry relies on grants from the federal government to help with safety, upkeep and growth in the industry.

We must ensure that the interests of both industries are adequately addressed in a manner that best serves the public.
