As a longtime public servant, the fight for LGBT+ equality is one that has always been close to my heart.

Hate drives these Republican bills, which, in turn, drive dangerous hate and violence toward our LGBTQ+ community.

We cannot accept the violence as an approach to solving problems that we face each and every day or demonize each other as an excuse not to engage with those that we disagree with.

The rise of hate and violence against the LGBTQIA community follows a surge of anti-LGBTQ+ legislation driven by Republican state lawmakers.

The rise of anti-queer and/or--trans extremism is a danger to our country, our nation, and we must act swiftly and urgently to eliminate it.

I'm thinking about Black and Brown women dealing with life-threatening complications because a lawless, unaccountable Supreme Court gutted our fundamental right to reproductive healthcare.

So, when we talk about the Supreme Court, we're talking about life-or-death issues, especially for Black families like those in St. Louis.

It needs to be regulated. It needs to be carefully controlled, but we should not be throwing people into prison for any period of time, for one day, because they smoke marijuana.

Ms. Mace has announced that she will cosponsor the security clearance bill that I'm announcing today, and I thank you very much for that, and, again, salute you for your leadership, Ms. Mace.

Decriminalizing cannabis would benefit a lot of communities, including especially people of color, individuals incarcerated for nonviolent offenses, veterans, and Federal employees.

Decriminalizing cannabis will help to relieve these disparities.

We've already seen the benefits of decriminalizing in the states.
