There seems to be--there are many, many questions about why--whether some of these routes are going to be much faster than when the trains were, back in the 1930s and 1940s.

It's a question of priorities.

I want to make sure we're spending it properly. That's the big concern I have.

Can we justify that to the taxpayers--not just to Missouri, but to the Nation--for what we'd have to spend?

I am kind of embarrassed to tell my son and--if he and his wife have children, tell my grandchildren--"Oh. I'm sorry. We've been spending--we spent your--we spent on your credit card."

Well, unfortunately, it was a drop in the bucket--out of $787 billion.

I have the highest respect for Congressman Cleaver. A former mayor I've worked very closely with.

Well, it would be very easy, if you'd just put it on the Web site, save you all those calls.

I've never had a problem being well received when I brought money. Only thing better is if you're bringing a free lunch and some beer.

We need to see how the process works. And I'll be damned if I can figure out how that process worked.

I know that the idea of an infrastructure bank... has been kicked around Congress for a long time.

I just question how much money is going to be spent on sidewalks, when we need highways and we need bridges.

No blank checks until we see what you're going to do.

Do you agree it's time for the administration to have the same kind of transparency?

There are plenty of people in Washington who don't think transportation spending is glamorous. They'd rather spend money on anything else other than roads, bridges, and infrastructure.

You gave us some money, and we'll spend it.

How many applications from my State? What are they? How much are they for? What are they going to do?

The needs are far greater than the dollars we have.

We have immense capacity on our rivers for shipping. It's efficient. It takes far less energy, releases far less pollution, and it's a big answer to long-term congestion problems.

There's a lot of money being spent. I hope that you two are being strong advocates within the administration for budget priorities.

I hope it doesn't mess you up.

When they are saying, hey, we are going to build plants in Malaysia with stimulus dollars, that is a negative as far as I am concerned.

And because we were not a good wind market until recently, until the last 5 years, the turbines were developed and manufactured abroad.

I want to thank you, as Senator Alexander did, for your commitment to loan guarantees to bring the best clean energy, nuclear energy on line.

If they are foreign companies investing in the United States, great if they are hiring U.S. workers, but do not call them stimulus jobs if the jobs are overseas.
