“Mr. Chairman, I appreciate my good friend and colleague from Minnesota's comments. I will tell you that in 2016 on their way out the Obama-Biden administration, for purely political reasons, pulled mining leases for a company that wanted to mine critical minerals in northeastern Minnesota. The Biden- Harris administration went against the Supreme Court when the Supreme Court ruled that it is unconstitutional to pay off student loans, and they still did it. What this says, Mr. Chair, is as the Biden-Harris administration is in their waning days here, they can't diminish our opportunities in northeastern Minnesota, period. Mr. Chair, I reserve the balance of my time. Ms. McCOLLUM. Mr. Chair, as I said, the gentleman from Minnesota from the Eighth Congressional District and I might disagree on some of those things. I can't, in good conscience, support this amendment because it is not drafted in a way that would even do what the gentleman would like to do. It is just written wrong. The Boundary Waters Wilderness Canoe Area is protected. It is wilderness. Any portion thereafter that is in the amendment would be parts that are not part of the Boundary Waters Wilderness Canoe Area. So by having that in the amendment, the amendment is not drafted properly. For that and other reasons, I just close with this: I would urge my colleagues to vote against this amendment.…”
