It's worse -- this alternative going past the deadline is worse than -- may be worse than what will happen to Americans with disabilities and our older Americans if I don't stand firm and fight for them at this time.

We're not going to stand back and let seniors, people with disabilities, most low-income vulnerable people in this country, bear the brunt of this fiscal entanglement.

I will not sacrifice the interests of seniors and low-income, poor Americans with disabilities just to come up with some deal.

Yes. And I believe you mentioned that employment--usually when we think of credit scores, we think of borrowing money to buy stuff. But some employers have looked at people's credit scores. Is that right?

I know it seems like it is somewhat rare to get a chance to come together on a bipartisan basis to do something good for the American people.

The question is, how do we do it? Does adding more data to the file help or does it hurt?

But even people who may not benefit because their credit history--not paying utility bills say--has been problematic. They will still have an opportunity to improve their credit.

So, bringing people into some sort of credit visibility, generally speaking, will enhance their ability to access credit.

I think this is a very important topic that we are addressing today.

I don't support blanket assertions that we need fewer cops on the beat in the financial market.
