I am really, really proud to say that our HUD Multifamily program in Minneapolis is a model.
We have 3,500 kids in Minneapolis who go to school every day from a shelter. It is a disgrace, a national one.
Do you see that changing? What is the future of funding the National Housing Trust Fund, given the profitability?
Now, in my own district of Minneapolis, we have an occupancy rate of like 98 percent and we could really use the help that a National Housing Trust Fund for low-income rental housing could provide.
I think it is important for you to note that, because as we are having this very civil conversation, the reality that people are going through--not just individual families but whole neighborhoods.
Our budget focuses on the needs of modern warfare and national defense, simply reducing Pentagon spending to 2006 levels.
