I thank Senator Merkley. I would like to echo the concerns of my friends and colleagues, Senators Harkin, Udall, Merkley, and Chairman Johnson. This legislation is intended to provide relief from a physical signage requirement that is subject to abuse, not reduce the disclosure available to consumers using ATM machines. I encourage the CFPB to issue regulations that clarify that consumers should have, at a minimum, the same access to timely information as they had prior to the passage of this legislation. Consumers are in the best position to make the financial decisions that are best for them, but to do so, they must have the relevant information at the appropriate time. I am pleased that so many of my colleagues have come together to support this legislative effort--one that remedies a problem affecting so many of our community banks and credit unions, but that retains protections for American consumers.

Harry was very encouraging. In fact, Chuck Schumer was less so. And Harry was really the one who got behind me and I won that first one, I clobbered Norm Coleman by 312 votes, as you may recall.

If they come up with a deal, that will happen.

It is, I still believe it will happen. Because it kind of has to, and I wish they would get on with it.

Absolutely, I said after the 6th very publicly that there should be an ethics investigation of Cruz and of Hawley and those who were going to deny certification.
