Chairwoman Waters, I cannot thank you enough. You taught me that housing is infrastructure, and that housing is a human right.

This has impacted communities like mine, Detroit, which is an over 80-percent Black community.

How can we get the FHA financing improved? How can we make competitive financing options?

I think it is important to make sure we push up against some of the gaslighting that continues to happen, and understand this housing crisis is not going anywhere.

I do have, H.R. 1532, which is in the Senate, that actually directs HUD to be able--and there is no financial impact on this--to look at best practices for FHA to be able to look at these small-dollar mortgages.

We know this doesn't make any sense and that countless homebuyers, particularly first-time homebuyers, are being locked out of being able to get homeownership.

It is all about making money no matter what, even when it is such an exorbitant, disgusting amount of profit versus what they could have been.

I have partnered with Representative Kaptur and, of course, Chairwoman Waters, to propose the Community Restoration and Revitalization Fund.

The housing increases are second after gas prices. So, you can't really address inflation without taking on the housing crisis.

We allow corporations and corporate greed to come before the needs of our American people.

We are not trying to stop that. We are just trying to stop--because what happened is people benefited from the suffering of our families during this recession--the Great Recession.
