I wanted to congratulate you, Chairman Goodlatte, on the way all of us have come together on this important subject.

I mean, didn't that happen?

Now we don't have direct jurisdiction over unemployment.

We welcome our Judiciary Committee putting an oar in on this as well.

The numbers of people being arrested at the borders and the enforcement of our borders is, as I interpret what he said, more lax than ever.

If this is the approach toward creating jobs, I don't want to minimize the effort because there are some important issues in this hearing.

This no doubt talented and charming member raises the question for me of is she tough enough for this job.

Merely holding repetitive hearings about the cost of Federal regulation misses the point.

So if the NSA can function in that environment, I would certainly hope that the FBI can learn to function in that environment.

I believe that legislatively forcing telecommunications providers to build back doors into systems will actually make us less safe and less secure.
