Nationally, communities seem to be focused on finding PFAS chemicals, but primarily looking at only a handful of those PFAS chemicals.

PFAS chemicals strike me as very similar. They seem to be used everywhere.

As a Senator from the State of Michigan, a State surrounded by the Great Lakes, the world's largest source of fresh water, I am appalled by the number of water crises that we have faced.

That is disturbing, and, in fact, I have heard from one researcher who said basically if you are a geologist at some point in the future, however many millions of years, and you look at the strata in the rock, you will actually find PFAS…

Would you support a Federal privacy law that mandates disclosure of that type of tracking?

Yes, Senator, we would be very supportive of legislative measures that continue to promote increased obligations for transparency.

I think there's no question that consumers want better transparency and control over their personal information.

I would like to follow up, Mr. Chairman, with all of you to get a sense of what sort of analysis has been done by each of your agencies to take a look at this.

How long is too long, do you think, to detain a child in a detention facility?

Certainly, with the detention docket or the detained docket, in 40 days we process folks and get them out.

Well, we will have to do a deeper dive then, because these are the numbers that have been presented to me.

I have been a proponent of improving our understanding of geomagnetic disturbances from space weather for some time now.

I raise the issue of chemical facilities because I have heard that inspectors... are worried that they do not have the appropriate knowledge and training.

I was disturbed this morning to see that the President took to Twitter to make false claims about the death count in Puerto Rico.

I'm proud in Michigan, in addition to being a leader when it comes to autonomous vehicles, that we are also a leader in autonomous marine research.
