Two weeks ago the committee reported out legislation that will help lower health care costs by enacting real medical liability reform

The question is: Will Congress and the President give the people the freedom?

I commend my colleague, Mrs. Blackburn, for leading the charge on this issue.

In all, CRS reports that public safety has been given $13 billion dollars from the Federal Government for radio equipment since 2001.

Empowering consumers is the key to controlling costs.

I proposed the amendment that was successful and worked with my friend Mr. Stupak to that legislation that provided $1 billion for interoperable equipment.

I think there is still a long way to go forward.

I think the ranking member, Mr. Waxman, has pointed out that it is--the agency has come a long way.

Clearly something has got to change.

The Federal Government would not interfere in the practice of medicine.
