I really want to take this opportunity to lay out a vision for what we can do through this body to lift up our communities.

We need an honest conversation about permitting and the implementation of NEPA in the 21st century.

Deploying zero-emission technologies at scale across the country will be the greatest permitting challenge in generations.

Too many treat economic security, national security, and environmental security as mutually exclusive goals.

This is why we are here.

Strengthening supply chains for electric vehicles and batteries is a top priority for me. We cannot and will not be dependent on China.

I care deeply about making sure that we are taking care of everybody and that they can afford the energy of the future.

Is counting the number of satellites sufficient, or do we need other metrics now?

We have got to keep it that way, and we can't take it for granted.

Innovative satellite technologies have proven crucial in expanding broadband access, emergency and disaster response, and 5G adoption.

I am a proud author of the Supply Chain Security and Resilience Act.

We have got to develop our supply here. We have got to work on that.

We can have economic security, national security, and environmental security. They are not exclusive.

I think the Inflation Reduction Act is crucial for achieving those targets.

Thanks to the Biden administration, we are on a path to significantly and meaningfully cut our carbon emissions and achieving a net-zero clean economy by 2050.

Any municipality or part of government should not be ran as a business, period.

There's just a repeated thing that nobody is listening to you.

We will not be ignored.

This is why I fought so hard to improve the lives with Rashida and Ro for our frontline communities by prioritizing policies.

Our priorities have failed too many families in the frontline communities and has allowed corporate polluters to continue to put profits over health.

The current laws and regulations that we have in frontline communities has left too many behind.

I think they need to be held criminally liable. I think they need to be shut down.

It's really great for both of us to welcome our colleague, Ro Khanna, to Michigan.

That's just wrong. That doesn't give people dignity.
