For 50 years, the ESA has protected and brought back many of our beloved species from the brink of extinction, and has a 99 percent success rate. I believe we need to continue to protect this Act.

It is especially troubling to learn how these clawbacks impact tribes, since it is my understanding how many feel that they have been left out of this process.
Based on the testimony today, it seems this bill is completely unnecessary. Habitat Conservation Plans already provide the flexibility when it comes to the conservation of our most vulnerable species.
I cannot support the America's Wildlife Habitat Conservation Act because, simply put, it doesn't meet the recommendations laid out by the blue ribbon panel.
So I'm going to answer this very differently which is Michigan is a purple state. And I've been saying that for a long time. We are a state that frequently votes uncommitted.
