Abdul El-Sayed
The Public Record
For the 2026 election, El-Sayed is the Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate in Michigan.
I’ve been very clear that I want to get to Medicare for All, and I also believe that we’ve got to take a pathway there.
If we can demonstrate that campaigning on, on truth and on courage can win in Michigan, it can win anywhere.
I would tell them, how about our party finds some courage, and I’m just telling you exactly what I believe, come what may.
I am not somebody who is a socialist. I believe in capitalism, I just believe that capitalism has to be regulated.
This has been the heart of my public service. We wanted to come back here and demonstrate what this movement is and what it could mean.
I believe in the kind of America where no matter where you grow up, the color of your skin, how you pray, you deserve equal rights in this country.
Think of what it would say to the country, to Congress, to other politicians, if a politics that opposes corporations, that takes on their power, that opposes sending our money elsewhere wins in a place like Michigan.
I think everybody and their mom running for president is watching this race with a very keen eye.
The central corrupting feature of our politics right now is the power of money to buy politicians so that government is captured by them, not for us.

If I prove that you can win statewide, taking on AIPAC and winning, that is catastrophic because of what it says about the future of the party.
AIPAC is the biggest spender in this race by far, and that’s pretty insane.
Look, you have an option that’s not bought off by all the same corporations.
This is just a different time, and this time calls for different kinds of candidates.
If you can’t get elected without $60 million being spent for you, you can’t get elected. I’m so sorry.
