We’re taxing billionaires their wealth, and to stand up for unions, who have been critical to winning fair wages.
Abdul El-Sayed
The Public Record
For the 2026 election, El-Sayed is the Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate in Michigan.
It means hauling up people like RFK Jr. and holding them accountable for the DOGE-ing of our public health apparatus.
It just shouldn’t be this hard. It shouldn’t be this hard to afford your groceries or fill up your tank or worry about getting sick without having to worry about losing everything too.
So what happens if you offer them something that’s not politics as usual and isn’t a megalomaniacal billionaire narcissist? Well, let’s see.
Not sure about 'End Wokeness,' but I don’t think the most 'American place in MI' can be a place that…bans cars.
Unless and until we protect local communities from the power of corrupting money and politics, we're going to continue to see projects like this get pushed on to local communities despite themselves.
I stand with local and state elected officials saying that we cannot approve any more of these until we have federal-level guardrails.
It’s not that we keep whiplashing back and forth from different extremes of the party. It’s that we keep going back to the buffet and not finding what we want.
The problem, though, is that that model hasn’t really accurately predicted our politics for a very long time.
If we think that voters walk around asking, ‘Where do I sit on some theoretical left-right spectrum?,’ then, in theory, the bulk of the voters are somewhere in the middle.
A movement to get money out of politics, so we can put money back in pockets and finally guarantee the promise of health care through Medicare for all.
This is a big movement. And in order for us to build together, we’re going to have to be able to come together around the things that unite us.
What would we build, what would we do if we treated all of our kids like they were all of our kids?
So I’m looking forward to partnering alongside him to win the Senate majority, to win back — to keep — the state of Michigan, and to win back the gavel for Democrats so that we can start holding Donald Trump accountable.
I think it’s the Trump official that most people would probably like to see me stand up against, because look, I’m a guy with a doctorate in medicine and in public health.
We also know that what unites us is way bigger than what divides us. We know that Trumpism has been just a colossal failure. We know that to defeat Trumpism, we're going to have to defeat Trump's hand-picked candidate for U.S. Senate.
And so to all of our supporters here tonight watching on TV, tomorrow we begin to mend fences.
