I am proud to support the development of the artificial pancreas, and I will continue to support funding for research at the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

I am concerned that most of these metrics fail to address the major challenges in Afghanistan: eliminating the Pakistan safe havens, reducing corruption, building a robust agriculture economy, and improving governance.

That is the so-called High Road Draft Executive Order.

I think that would be a good idea.

A second Executive Order that the Administration has under consideration would actually require any entity that is bidding for any Federal contract to disclose political contributions from the previous 2 years.

There has never been any doubt that wasteful duplication is a serious problem in the Federal Government.

I hope that you will take a hard look at both of these Executive Orders and the policies behind them because if, in fact, this Administration is committed to expanding competition, as you eloquently said, it should not be issuing Executive…

I find it very hard to understand why the Administration has considered two Executive Orders that would have exactly the opposite impact.

But as far as low-hanging fruit, where should Congress start?

I think it would be easier for consumers as well as for businesses to not have to figure out what an individual law in one of those 47 states that has them means in their particular case.

I really hope you will take another look at that. I understand what you are trying to do, but I think that you are also giving information to the enemy.

My concern is, we do not want to give those who would do us harm a roadmap to how to attack our critical infrastructure.

But if it is sufficient to cause a business to no longer do business with that entity, it is sufficient to wave a red flag at those who would do us harm.

I want to follow up on the issue of how you handle critical infrastructure.

The need for Congress to pass comprehensive cybersecurity legislation is more urgent than ever.

It has to be the saddest constituent meeting that I have had in quite some time.

My concern, however, is how is this program going to reach the Reserve and National Guard.

I do think that it is absolutely critical that we recognize that there are a lack of mental healthcare providers in rural areas of my State and I suspect throughout the country.

Numerous studies funded by DOD, the VA, NIH, and the Institutes of Medicine have found a link between military service and ALS.

I think it is important that we move forward.

And yet, this offers the potential of providing clean domestic energy to large population centers in close proximity to wind resources.

What we have found is that kind of collaborative interdisciplinary approach is absolutely essential when you are trying to spur innovation further.

But one of my concerns is that our country should not lose the global race in developing deep water offshore wind technology.

The partnership is absolutely essential if we are going to increase the security of our country, no matter the mode of transportation.
