“No. I would like to read an e-mail I received from a constituent: ``It is the veteran, not the preacher, who has given us freedom of religion. ``It is the veteran, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. ``It is the veteran, not the poet, who has given us the freedom of speech. ``It is the veteran, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom of assembly. ``It is the veteran, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. ``It is the veteran, not the politician, who has given us the right to vote.'' Mr. Speaker, I think that pretty much sums it up. It is the veterans that made this country what it is today. We should be taking care of our veterans, living up to the commitment, making sure that they get the proper health care that they deserve, and we ought to take care of some of the problems of concurrent receipts and mandatory funding.”
