We have heard a lot of arguments about this bill today and the various components of it, why the bill is not a good idea, and why my amendment, which would strike most of the egregious parts of the bill, would be a beneficial way to change…

I appreciate the lively debate that has gone on today, and I want to speak in favor of this particular amendment. This is the Pingree-DeFazio-Polis amendment in the nature of a substitute, which strikes all of the anticonsumer and…
I just wanted to rise in support of the amendment offered by the gentleman from South Carolina. I was here last night and had a chance to speak against the Hudson amendment for the very reasons that he is articulating. Coming from Maine…
I will just reiterate the points I made before and urge a ``no'' vote. I yield back the balance of my time. The Acting CHAIR. The question is on the amendment offered by the gentleman from Wisconsin (Mr. Grothman). The question was taken…
The amendment offered by the gentleman from Wisconsin would prohibit funds for regulating the location of air monitors in counties. The Clean Air Act requires every State to establish a network of air monitoring stations for criteria…
I am happy to have an exchange--North Carolina barbecue, Maine lobster. It is probably a pretty fair exchange. I just want to clarify. It is $15,000, not $15 million that the EPA spent working on this innovation. I understand your…
I appreciate the concerns of the Member from North Carolina, and I will give him credit. They have better barbecue than my home State. We have got you beat on lobsters, but that is how it goes. I want to say I think this argument is…
I demand a recorded vote. The Acting CHAIR. Pursuant to clause 6 of rule XVIII, further proceedings on the amendment offered by the gentleman from North Carolina will be postponed. Amendment Offered by Mr. Hudson
I certainly appreciate the gentleman from North Carolina and his concerns about jobs for his home State, but as a Member of Congress who also represents the coastal State of Maine, I know the deep concerns that people have about the…
Again, I just want to say I appreciate the concerns that the gentleman from Oregon has raised, and other Members from Oregon who share those concerns. I thought it was important to address some of the considerations and concerns that we…

I claim the time in opposition to the amendment. The Acting CHAIR. The Chair recognizes the gentlewoman from Maine for 5 minutes.
I claim time in opposition to the amendment. The Acting CHAIR. The gentlewoman from Maine is recognized for 5 minutes.
I demand a recorded vote. The Acting CHAIR. Pursuant to clause 6 of rule XVIII, further proceedings on the amendment offered by the gentleman from New Mexico will be postponed. Amendment Offered by Mr. Huffman
In spite of the arguments that my colleague from New Mexico has made, I still say this amendment, in my opinion, doesn't pass the straight face test. I can't imagine my constituents thinking that we should make things any easier for the…
The amendment would prohibit the Bureau of Land Management from using its legal authorities to modernize its royalty rate structure, which would result in less revenue to the Treasury. The Department of the Interior's oil and gas royalties…
I claim the time in opposition to this amendment. The Acting CHAIR. The gentlewoman from Maine is recognized for 5 minutes.
While I certainly appreciate the challenges that so many Western States are facing right now with the drought and very frightening wildfires, I need to oppose this. Unlike most programs in H.R. 2822, especially within the Forest Service…
I claim the time in opposition to the amendment. The Acting CHAIR. The gentlewoman from Maine is recognized for 5 minutes.
I thank the ranking member for yielding me this time and for taking up this important issue and helping us to better understand the importance of it. In my opinion, we shouldn't even be here today debating a repeal of this important…
I thank Mr. Grijalva for the time. I rise to support the reauthorization of the Magnuson-Stevens Act, but not the bill we have before us today. Like many of my colleagues here in Congress who represent coastal States, I know the importance…
It is a system that is broken and I can tell you from the countless stories I've heard that it hasn't been fixed.

Importantly, veterans will retain the right to an in-person hearing, and under my bill the VA must honor the veteran's preference for hearing type--whether in-person or via VTC.
This act ensures that the VA treat our veterans whose PTSD is caused by sexual assault with the same standards.
